Ilford is one of the busiest rental markets on our patch. Central IG1 is dense with Edwardian terraces and converted flats, a large share of them privately rented or run as HMOs, while IG2 out towards Gants Hill and Newbury Park is classic 1930s semi territory, built for families and increasingly renovated by them.
Redbridge licenses rented property actively, so a big part of our Ilford work is keeping landlords compliant: EICRs, remedial works and fire alarm systems that satisfy licensing conditions. The owner-occupier side is different but just as steady, with interwar semis that still carry original consumer units and wiring from the last century.
Landlord EICRs and HMO compliance
Ilford's HMO sector is large and well inspected. We carry out EICRs, complete remedials quickly, and install interlinked smoke and heat alarm systems, plus emergency lighting where the property size requires it. Certificates are issued promptly so licensing deadlines are never missed on our account.
1930s semis in Gants Hill and Newbury Park
The IG2 semis were built with a fraction of today's electrical demand in mind. We regularly replace original or long-outdated fuse boards, add kitchen and garage circuits, and rewire houses where the cable has reached the end of its life. Driveways make these homes ideal for EV chargers too.
Edwardian terraces and flat conversions in IG1
The terraces around central Ilford include many houses split into flats decades ago, with shared or muddled supplies and boards in awkward places. We trace and separate circuits, upgrade boards and certify each flat as its own installation.
Loft conversions and extensions
Extending is the default move in Ilford's semis. We wire loft rooms and rear extensions, upgrade alarms to meet building regulations and make sure the consumer unit can carry the extra load before plasterboard goes up.
