What counts as urgent
- A burning smell from sockets, switches or the fuse box
- Sockets, plugs or switches that are hot, buzzing or scorched
- The fuse box trips again as soon as you reset it
- Part or all of your home has lost power
- Damaged or exposed wiring, especially where children can reach
- Water has got into sockets, light fittings or the fuse box
While you wait
- If anything is smoking or on fire, get out and call 999 before anything else.
- If it is safe to reach, switch off the main switch on your fuse box. It is usually a large red or labelled switch.
- Unplug appliances on the affected circuit, especially heaters, washing machines and anything that was running when the problem started.
- Do not tape over, reset repeatedly, or work around a tripping breaker. It is tripping for a reason.
- Keep everyone away from scorched sockets and any exposed wiring.
If you smell gas rather than burning plastic, call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999.

Urgent call-outs, honestly answered
Are you available around the clock?
No, and we will not pretend to be. We work standard days and prioritise urgent jobs within them. If your enquiry lands before the afternoon cut-off on a working day we aim to attend the same day. For a life-threatening emergency such as fire, call 999. If you smell gas, call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999.
What counts as urgent?
Anything that is unsafe or has left you without essentials: a burning smell from sockets or the fuse box, sockets or switches that are hot or scorched, repeated tripping you cannot reset, a full or partial loss of power, or exposed damaged wiring. If in doubt, call and describe it. We will tell you honestly how urgent it is.
What will an urgent visit cost?
Urgent call-outs start from £95, which covers getting to you and the first stage of diagnosis. We tell you the likely cost before we travel and agree any repair price before work starts. No surprise invoices.
Can you talk me through it on the phone first?
Yes. A two-minute call often tells us whether you have a genuine emergency, a safe workaround until a visit, or a simple fix. We would rather give you five minutes of honest advice than sell you a visit you do not need.
Not urgent after all? See everything we do or get a standard quote.
