Romford is a straight run out from our East London base along the A12, and we cover RM1 and RM7 as part of our regular patch. Based in East London. Covering all of Greater London.
The housing here is dominated by the interwar building boom: 1930s semis and terraces across Rush Green, Mawneys and the streets around the town centre, with pockets of Victorian stock nearer the market and newer flats in the centre itself. A remarkable number of these semis still have their original or first-replacement fuse boards, and that single fact drives a lot of our Romford work.
Consumer unit upgrades in 1930s semis
The classic Romford job is replacing a decades-old fuse board with a modern consumer unit. These houses were wired for a couple of lights and a radio per room, and boards without RCD protection are still common. We test the circuits, upgrade the board and certify it, normally in a day.
EV chargers on driveways
Most RM1 and RM7 semis have off-street parking, which makes EV charging installation straightforward compared with inner London. We check the supply capacity, fit a tethered or untethered charger to suit, and handle the DNO notification.
Kitchen, bathroom and extension wiring
Interwar semis are extension-friendly, and refits are constant across Romford. We run cooker and shower circuits, wire rear extensions and loft rooms, and make sure the board can carry the extra demand before the plasterer arrives.
Rewires and landlord certificates
Where original rubber-insulated cable survives, a rewire is the honest recommendation and we say so plainly. We also carry out EICRs for Romford landlords, with remedial work completed by the same firm that found it.
